Alice
Gerber-Champion of Change
"Parkinson's disease has changed many lives thru out the country. Including
Alice Gerber's. When her husband was diagnosed with the disease she turned
her sadness into a fight for answers. And in her 70's, she went back to
school for her PH-D to research possible solutions, which are being studied
by scientists today.
And its that dedication that makes her a champion of change. When 78 year
old Alice Gerber isn't making dolls for festival donations, she's making a
difference here. Alice co-started this Savannah Parkinson's group 15 years
ago, for people needing help with their disease and dignity. Members of the
group agreed that it allows them to see other people in the same
circumstances and know you're not by yourself. It gives you the drive to go
on when you know there's people working on the situation and other people
with the same problems."
